How to Style an Oversized T-Shirt | The Egyptian Way
The oversized t-shirt is the one piece everyone agrees on. But there's a difference between wearing it and knowing how to wear it.
Here's how Cairo's most decisive dressers are doing it right now.
Keep the bottom fitted, or go full oversized
Two moves. Either pair your oversized tee with fitted or slim bottoms, cargo pants, straight-leg jeans, or clean joggers and let the contrast do the work. Or commit fully: oversized tee, oversized sweatpants, statement sneakers. One silhouette, done intentionally. Both work. Half-measures don't.
Let the graphic carry the fit
A bold graphic tee doesn't need much else. Clean sneakers and minimal accessories is enough. The print is the focal point, don't fight it with too much else going on. The graphic already says something. Let it.
Layer it right
In Cairo winters, an oversized tee under an open overshirt or with a heavy hoodie on top creates a layered look that's practical and intentional. The key is proportion — if the tee is oversized, the outer layer should either match that energy or be significantly slimmer. No in-between.
Cairo-specific: the weather window matters
Egypt has about four months where layering actually makes sense. The rest of the year is t-shirt weather. Build your wardrobe around that reality — a strong rotation of graphic tees is more useful here than a deep hoodie stack you can only wear three months a year.
Tuck? Almost never.
The tucked oversized tee is a very specific look. Unless you're front-tucking into high-waisted wide-leg pants with clear intention, leave it out. The dropped hem is part of the silhouette. Work with it.
The rule
Wear it like you thought about it. Even when you didn't.
